Gittenbergeria turriplana is a species of air-breathing land snail, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Trissexodontidae.[1][2][3]
Distribution
This species is endemic to the Algarve, southern Portugal.[4] It is a frequent species in the Algarve and locally very common.[4]
Description
The shell is brown with a characteristic microsculpture, depressed with a strong keel.[4] The first whorls are almost flat.[4] The aperture is narrow.[4] Margin reflected and turned outward.[4] There are two teeth on the lower edge corresponding to 2 conspicuous depressions on the outer shell.[4] The umbilicus is open and eccentric.[4]
The width of the shell is 12–14 mm.[4] The height of the shell is 5–6 mm.[4]
Animal is almost black with a lighter foot, upper tentacles very long.[4]
Ecology
It lives in low altitudes on calcareous substrate, close to the coast.[4] It is frequent at old walls and in old gardens and parks in cities, also in shrublands and cultivated areas.[4]
