Beena Masroor is a Pakistani actress, writer and director.[1] She is known for her roles in dramas Dil Banjaara, Aangan, Betiyaan, Agar and Jaan-e-Jahan.[2]

Early life

Beena was born in 1958 in Hyderabad, Sindh at Pakistan.[1] She completed her early education from Hyderabad School and later she graduated from University of Sindh. Beena's father Salahuddin Ahmed Baloch was a Deputy Superdent and her mother was a housewife.[1] Beena's sister Sahar Imdad is a Sindhi poet and writer.[3]

Beena was interested in acting and used to act on stage plays and theatre plays during school later in college.[3]

During her college days she visited PTV Centre and was noticed by producer Zulfikar Naqvi. He approached her and asked her to work for his drama which was he producing then she accepted the offer but she told him that she has to take permission from her parents after she took permission from her parents they allowed her and supported her to work in dramas and she called Zulfikar Naqvi and told him that she will work in his drama.[3]

Career

She was cast by producer Zulfikar Naqvi in his drama Manzil in a lead role alongside Parveen Akbar the drama was in Sindhi language which was written by Shamshirul Haidari and it was a success then she later got more offers from many directors.[3] Then she worked in many Sindhi dramas Obeyant, Travel and Companion, Mathar, Keedu Karonbhar, Peera, Nakili, Bare Han Bhanbhur Mein and Khali Gohar.[1][4]

Later she wrote two dramas in Sindhi Nili and Topo which were directed by Bedil Masroor and Mohammad Bakhsh Sameeji. Beena also directed some dramas Har Jeet, Zindagi Ek Kan, Moort, Saniheh Ji Suk and Dil Ka Maamala.[1]

Beena also worked in commercials and advertisements later she begin to write poetry for magazines also for Sindhi language magazines and newspapers using her pen name Beena.[4]

Since she appeared in dramas Vasl-e-Yaar, Dil Banjaara, Tarap, Betiyaan, Agar and Jaan-e-Jahan.[5][6]

Personal life

Beena married singer Bedil Masroor and she has seven children. Beena's son Paras Masroor is a actor and screenwriter[1]
