Led by 14th-year head coach Chick Evans, the Huskies compiled an overall record of 3–2–2 with a mark of 1–0–2 in conference play, placing second in the IIAC.
Northern Illinois was ranked at No. 344 (out of 590 college and military teams) in the final rankings under the Litkenhous Difference by Score System for 1942.[1]
The team played home games at the 5,500-seat Glidden Field, located on the east end of campus, in DeKalb, Illinois.
