It is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.[1]

The same 10 teams from the previous season have returned with few changes to the team personnel.
Personnel changes
Support staff changes
- Justin Langer replaced Andy Flower as the Head Coach of Lucknow Super Giants.[2]
- Andy Flower replaced Sanjay Bangar as the Head Coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore.[3]
- Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the Mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders.[4]
- Brian Lara was replaced by Daniel Vettori as Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad.[5]
Captaincy changes
- Kane Williamson was named as the captain of Gujarat Titans after their previous captain, Hardik Pandya, was acquired by Mumbai Indians.[6]
- Shreyas Iyer returned as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders after missing out last year due to a back injury, replacing Nitish Rana.[7]
- Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians.[8]
Auction records
- The IPL Auction took place in a country outside India for the first time on 19 December 2023 in Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai.
- The most expensive player was Mitchell Starc, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Шаблон:INRConvert which is a new IPL record, surpassing the 18.50 crore paid for Sam Curran in 2023.

- Bowlers will be allowed to deliver two bouncers an over. This change in playing conditions was trialled during the 2023–24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India's domestic T20 tournament.[9]
