Belavah (Шаблон:Lang-fa), formerly Balavah Tareh-ye Sofla (Шаблон:Lang-fa), also Romanized as Belāvah Tareh-ye Soflá; also known as Belāveh Tareh,[1] is a city in, and the capital of, Zagros District of Chardavol County, Ilam province, Iran.[2] The city is populated by Kurds.[3]
At the 2006 census, its population was 290 in 63 households, when it was a village in Bijnavand Rural District of the Central District.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 288 people in 76 households.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 264 people in 79 households,[6] by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of Zagros District, with Balavah now a city and capital of the district.[2]
