Peterson used it as an inspiration for his highly successful stage play The Square Ring. (Along with another radio feature of Peterson's, The Problem of Johnny Flourcake.)[1]

Several real boxing commentators were used.[2]

Premise

A truck driver, Greg Mason, becomes a champion boxer to support his mother and younger sister.[3] His manager and trainer, Mike Williams, sees Greg a representative of what Mike wants to be. Williams' daughter Chris worries about Greg. Greg's mother is unsympathetic to her son's boxing career as her husband was killed in a fight.[4]
