Шаблон:Short description Fareham and Waterlooville is a proposed constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. The constituency is scheduled to be created by the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, and will first be contested at the next general election.[1]
Boundaries
The constituency will be composed of the following (as they existed on 1st December 2020):
- The Borough of Fareham wards of: Fareham East; Fareham North; Fareham North-West; Fareham South; Fareham West; Portchester East; Portchester West.
- The Borough of Havant wards of: Cowplain; Hart Plain; Waterloo.
- The City of Winchester wards of: Denmead; Southwick & Wickham.[2]
The constituency will comprise the following areas:
- The towns of Fareham and Portchester from the (to be abolished) constituency of Fareham
- The town of Waterlooville, together with the villages of Denmead, Southwick and Wickham, from the (to be abolished) constituency of Meon Valley[3]
History
The constituency will be formed from parts of the existing Fareham and Meon Valley constituencies. On 5 April 2023, Suella Braverman (the current MP for Fareham) defeated Flick Drummond (the current MP for Meon Valley) by 77 votes to 54, to be preselected by a majority of local party members as the Conservative Party's candidate for the new seat at the next election.[4][5][6]
