He captained the Indonesia national football team when they won the gold medal at the 1991 SEA Games. During his active period he played for the Persebaya Surabaya and was a coach for Petrokimia Gresik.
Early life
Ferril Raymond Hattu was born on 9 August 1962 in Surabaya, East Java to parents from Saparua, Maluku. His father, Johannes Agustinus Hattu, was a former Persebaya Surabaya coach in the 1970s.[1]
He started practicing football at SSB Indonesia Muda when he was six years old. There he trained with two other future Indonesian national team legends, Jacob Sihasale and Abdul Kadir. Then he started his senior football career at Persebaya's internal club called Harapan Budi Setiawan (HBS) in 1976.[2]
