'Sky' Choynski in the film Sands of Iwo Jima.[1][2]

Biography

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Baylor served in the US Marine Corps on Saipan and Tinian.[3]

Following the war he began professional boxing in 1947 with a record of 52-5 as an amateur and 16-8-3 as a professional.[1]

He began his acting career under the name Hal Fiberling in the boxing films Joe Palooka in Winner Take All followed by The Set-Up (1949).

In 1956, he portrayed “Dolph Timble” in James Arness's TV Western Series Gunsmoke in the episode “Hack Prine” (S1E26).

From 1959 he made television commercials for Kellogg's OK breakfast cereal as Big Otis the Scotsman until he was replaced by Yogi Bear.[4]

Baylor died in Los Angeles in 1998.[5]
