Biography
Education
Hassanein Hiridjee comes from an Indian family who settled in Madagascar.[1] He graduated from Tananarive French high-school in 1992. He then was graduated from the ESCP Business School in Paris.[3]
Career
In France, he held several positions in the financial sector before returning to Madagascar in 1997. He founded First Immo, a real estate company that he ran jointly with his brother. He then gradually took over as head of Hirimix, the family group founded by his father Rosanaly Hiridjee.[3] In December 2015, the company was renamed Axian. Axian is now present in the telecoms, energy, real estate and financial services sectors.[4] It has expanded beyond Madagascar with a presence in Tanzania, with the takeover of the operations of Tigo (Milicom SA),[5][1] in Togo by entering TOGOCOM's capital,[6] in Senegal in partnership with Xavier Niel,[7] and in Ivory Coast.[8]
Civil society involvement
In 2017, Hassanein Hiridjee created his foundation, Fondation H, which aims to promote African artists internationally. The Fondation H is present in the Marais, Paris since September 2020.[9][10] In May 2023, a new space was inaugurated in Tananarive, Madagascar.[11][12]
Distinctions
At the Africa CEO Forum 2022 organized by Jeune Afrique Media Group, he was named "CEO of the year". This award recognizes the CEO who has had the biggest impact in Africa over the year.[13]
