Шаблон:Short description Шаблон:Use dmy dates Шаблон:Politics of Western Cape The council of the Hessequa Local Municipality (previously the Langeberg Local Municipality) consists of seventeen members elected by mixed-member proportional representation. Nine councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in nine wards, while the remaining eight are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received. In the election of 3 August 2016 no party obtained a majority; the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Freedom Front Plus (FF+) subsequently formed a coalition to govern the municipality.[1]

The DA won a majority in the 2021 election.
