It is situated between the village of Strandir on Шаблон:Lang peninsula to the west and the Шаблон:Lang of Шаблон:Ill peninsula to the east. Spanning Шаблон:Convert, it has a maximum width of about Шаблон:Convert and length of Шаблон:Convert.[1]

The Battle of the Gulf (Шаблон:Lang-is) was a naval battle on 25 June 1244 in Шаблон:Lang, during the Age of the Sturlungs civil war. A detailed description of the battle can be found in Шаблон:Lang.

The bay has been proposed as a protected area for harbor seals.[2]
