The 62nd Cannes Film Festival was held from 13 May to 24 May 2009. French actress Isabelle Huppert was the Jury President. The Palme d'Or winner was The White Ribbon, directed by Michael Haneke.[1]

The festival Opening Film was Pixar's Up,[2][3] directed by Pete Docter and Bob Peterson. This marked the first time that an animated film or 3D film opened the festival. The closing night film was Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky directed by Jan Kounen.[4]

American filmmaker Clint Eastwood became the second recipient of the Honorary Palme d'Or.[5]
