Шаблон:Infobox historic site Alai Minar is an unfinished monument[1] in the Qutub Minar complex in Mehrauli area of Indian National Capital Delhi.[2][3] It was being built by the Ruler Alauddin Khilji in the 12th century.[4][5] The Khilji dynasty ruler Alauddin Khilji ordered to built a more good looking Minar than Qutub Minar should be built in the same complex as the Tower of Victory.[6][7]

History

The Khilji dynasty ruler Alauddin Khilji ordered to built a more good building (Minar) near the Qutub Minar on his name, Alai Minar means the Minaret of Alauddin. However the Ruler died when only the basement of the Monument was completed. Hence it was not even seen by other ruler to complete it. It is standing like that still.[8]

Alauddin Khilji had also built the Alai Darwaza at the entrance of Qutub Minar complex.[9][10]
