Led by eleventh-year head coach Hec Edmundson, the Huskies were members of the Pacific Coast Conference and played their home games on campus at the UW Pavilion in Seattle, Washington.

The Huskies were Шаблон:Nowrap overall in the regular season and Шаблон:Nowrap in conference play; first in the Northern division for a fourth consecutive year.[1]

Washington met Southern division winner California in the Pacific Coast championship series at Seattle.[1] The Huskies won the first game,[2][3] lost the second by two,[4][5] setting up a third and deciding game, which they won by twelve.[6][7] It was Washington's first PCC title;[6] they had lost the championship series in the previous three seasons.[1]

The National Invitation Tournament (NIT) debuted in 1938, and the NCAA Tournament in 1939.
