Шаблон:Infobox Film Festival The 54th Cannes Film Festival started on 14 May and ran until 20 May 2001. Norwegian actress and director Liv Ullmann was the Jury President. The Palme d'Or went to the Italian film The Son's Room by Nanni Moretti.[1][2][3][4]

The festival opened with Moulin Rouge!, directed by Baz Luhrmann[5][6] and closed with Les âmes fortes, directed by Raúl Ruiz.[7] The Un Certain Regard section opened with 'R Xmas directed by Abel Ferrara and closed with The Words of My Father (Le parole di mio padre) directed by Francesca Comencini.[8][9]
