It is the largest of Oregon's five districts and is the seventh-largest district in the nation. Incumbent Republican Greg Walden, the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, who had represented the district since 1999, ran for re-election. He was re-elected with 69% of the vote in 2012 and the district had a PVI of R+10.
