The team is led by fifth-year head coach Jerry Stackhouse, and play their home games at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee as a member of the Southeastern Conference.

Previous season

The Commodores finished the 2022–23 season 22–15, 11–17 in SEC Play to finish in a three-way tie for 4th place. They defeated LSU and Kentucky to advance to the semifinals of the SEC tournament, where they were defeated by Texas A&M. They received an at-large bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Yale and Michigan to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to UAB.
