Шаблон:Infobox event On 8 August 2023, Gaurav Gogoi moved a motion of no confidence against the second Modi ministry in the Lok Sabha.[1][2] It was primarily moved to compel Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the Manipur violence.[1][3]

On 9 August 2023, Rahul Gandhi, Member of Lok Sabha from Wayanad, spoke on the Motion and about his journey to the Manipur pertaining to the situation in Manipur.[4][5][6] Allegedly, Gandhi was seen passing flying kiss towards treasury benches to which Irani objected before the Speaker and wrote a letter demanding action against the same.[7][8]

The Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah spoke on the same day and defended the government and Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. Shah further appealed to both Meitei and Kuki communities to shun violence, and said the ethnic strife, which has left over 150 dead, can be resolved only through dialogue.[9][10]

On 10 August 10, 2023, Modi gave a speech for two hours and fourteen minutes, the longest ever for any prime minister in the history of the Lok Sabha.[11][12][13][14] He criticized the previous Congress government's inability to deal with the situation in past. As a mark of protest I.N.D.I.A leaders walked out of the House.[15][16]
