The 2024 NHL Stadium Series is a series of two outdoor regular season National Hockey League (NHL) games that are planned to be played during the 2023–24 NHL season. This will be the first time since 2016 that two Stadium Series games are scheduled instead of just one. Both games are planned to be held on the weekend of February 17–18, 2024, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Philadelphia Flyers will face the New Jersey Devils on February 17, then the New York Rangers will play the New York Islanders on February 18.[1]

Background

The NHL announced the Stadium Series games on June 3, 2023.[1] The league originally planned to only stage one game with just the Rangers and the Devils.[2]

All three NHL teams in the New York metropolitan area will be represented, like the two games at Yankee Stadium in the 2014 NHL Stadium Series.[3] The Rangers are again the only one out of those three clubs that have been designated as a 'visiting' team to maintains the legal fiction regarding the property tax-exempt status held by the Rangers' home arena, Madison Square Garden. The arena would lose its tax exception if the Rangers play a "home" game elsewhere.[2][3][4]

MetLife Stadium is scheduled to undergo renovations after the end of the 2023 National Football League season in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and therefore several low-level sideline seats will be removed prior to the Stadium Series.[2]
