Early life

Sarker was born on 8 February 1964.[6] He completed his undergrad in English Literature and masters in English Language from the University of Dhaka.[6] He has a second masters in International Policy and Practice from George Washington University in the United States.[6][5]

Career

Sarker joined the foreign affairs cadre of the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1986.[7]

Sarker was the Director General of Europe and International Organisations wings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[8]

In 2014, Sarker was the first Ambassador of Bangladesh to Lebanon.[9] He and the Head of Chancery at the embassy, ATM Monemul Haque, had filed multiple complaints against each other with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[9] The Foreign Ministry sent the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt to investigate the issue.[9] The ministry withdraw both men with Sarker being found guilty in the investigation and attached to the ministry as punishment.[9] [10] Sarker was replaced by M Nazrul Islam, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[10] Bangladesh was asked to take action by Lebanon after expatriates blocked the embassy protesting Sarker.[10]

Sarker was appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sweden in September 2010 and presented his credentials to the King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf in November.[11][7]

In June 2019, Sarker was appointed the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Iran.[8]

In March 2023, Manjurul Karim Khan replaced Sarker as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Iran.[12][13] He was appointed chairman of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies.
