Life and career

Ahmad was born on 1937/1938 as the eldest child and son of the five children of Tuan Guru Haji Ahmad, an ulama, and his second wife, Khadijah binti Sulaiman.Шаблон:Sfn[1] His father was the first person to establish an Islamic-based educational institution in Bengkalis and the founder of Al-Khairiyah boarding school.Шаблон:Sfn His brother, A. Ahmad started his career by serving as the Head of the Tanjungpinang City Religious Court, followed by being the Chairman of the Riau Islands Indonesian Ulema Council.[1] During his term as a chairman, he actively traveled on assignments and activities outside the city together with administrators of the Indonesian Ulema Council from various provinces.[1]

In 2019, Ahmad participated in carrying out elections and inviting the public to maintain the situation so that it remains conducive and safe and avoids actions that damage democracy.[2] He also thanked the government, the Indonesian National Army, the Republic of Indonesia Police, election organizers and the community for helping the 2019 elections run safely and smoothly.[2]

Ahmad was married and had four sons, a daughter, and 15 grandchildren.[1] He died at his residence in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, on 11 February 2021 at 05:00 WIB (UTC+07:00), due to illness and old age at the age of 83.[1]
