Adrienne C. Nelson High School (ANHS or Nelson High School) is a 4-year public high school in Happy Valley, Oregon. The school is the fourth and newest public high school in the North Clackamas School District.

History

Adrienne Nelson High School was proposed to relieve ongoing crowding issues at Clackamas High School in the 2016 Capital Construction bond.[1] The building was built back in 2010 as Rock Creek Middle School with the intentions of eventually turning it into a high school. In 2020, Rock Creek was relocated to a building east of Clackamas High school and renovations began. Within this, 16 classrooms, a performing arts center, athletics center, stadium, track, and health center were built to better fit a high school environment. Along with this, district-wide safety improvements came to the building. ANHS opened in September 2021.

Nelson High School was named after Adrienne Nelson, the first African American woman to serve in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.[2][3][4]

Academics

In 2022, 90% of the students received a high school diploma. Of 80 students, 78 graduated, and 2 dropped out.[5]

Athletics

Nelson High School athletic teams compete in the OSAA 6A-4 Mt. Hood Conference. The school's athletic director is Vicki Nelms and the athletics secretary is Chris Riewald.[6]
