Шаблон:Short description Шаблон:Infobox officeholder Naseer Ahamed Zainulabdeen, MP (Sinhala:නසීර් අහමඩ්; born 16 April 1961) is a Sri Lankan politician, former Cabinet Minister and former member of parliament.[1] He is the former Chief Minister of the Eastern Province.[2] Following the mass resignation of the Sri Lankan cabinet in the wake of the 2022 Sri Lankan protests, he was appointed as the Minister of Environment by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on 18 April 2022.[3]

He was accused of corrupt practices by interfering with administration and issuing illegal sand mining permits. This was detailed in the COPE committee minutes. On 6 October 2023, the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka unanimously made a landmark judgement in which it affirmed the power of a political party to expel a member, thus ensuring their dismissal from Parliament. Such decision was made after Naseer Ahamed was expelled from his party, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, for going against his party and accepting a ministerial position, thereby dismissing his seat and ministerial position.[4]
