The American wall gecko (Tarentola americana) is a species of lizard in the family Phyllodactylidae. The species is endemic to Cuba and the Bahamas.[1] There are two recognized subspecies.

Subspecies

Including the nominotypical subspecies, two subspecies are recognized as being valid.[1]

Nota bene: A trinomial authority in parentheses indicates that the subspecies was originally described in a genus other than Tarentola.

Etymology

The subspecific name, warreni, is in honor of C. Rhea Warren who collected the holotype.[2]

Geographic range

T. a. americana is found on the island of Cuba and associated islets. T. a. warreni is found on some of the northern islands of the Bahamas.[1]

Reproduction

T. americana is oviparous.[1]
