Шаблон:Infobox officeholder Andrej Milović (Шаблон:Lang-sr-Cyrl) is a Montenegrin lawyer and politician who has served as a member of the Parliament of Montenegro since 27 July 2023. He is a presidency member of the centrist Europe Now.
Early life and education
Milović graduated from the Faculty of Administrative and European Studies and the Faculty of Law of the Mediterranean University. He specialized in European Studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Montenegro, and later in the field of Justice at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro. He received numerous awards and scholarships for his academic results, and at the age of 20 he became a member of Mensa.[1]
He attended numerous political academies and programs in Montenegro and abroad, organized by international organizations and political parties, such as the International Republican Institute (IRI), Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Hans Seidel Foundation and the UK Conservative Party.[1]
In 2014, at a military parade in Belgrade, Serbia, during the visit of Vladimir Putin to Serbia, Milović was interviewed by Boris Malagurski and recorded praising Russia and Putin and criticizing the West for being "against us" and bombing Yugoslavia in 1999.[2]
Law and real estate career
He worked as a real estate broker and a lawyer.[1] In 2017, Milović violated the Code of Professional Ethics of Lawyers and "threatened the interests of the clients at the law office where he worked on behalf of the and for the needs of the opposite party".[3]
Political career
During the government of Zdravko Krivokapić, he served as the general director of the Directorate for Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, member of the Prosecutorial Council of Montenegro and the state secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Human and Minority Rights.[4][5]
In August 2022, Milović joined the newly founded centrist Europe Now (PES) led by former ministers Milojko Spajić and Jakov Milatović[6] and became its presidency member.[7] Milović was later appointed president of PES's legal council.
PES participated at the 2022 local elections and Milović was elected to the City Assembly of Podgorica.[8] He was sworn in on 12 April 2023.[9] Following the victory of Jakov Milatović from PES in the 2023 presidential election, Milović stated that they will carry out the "decontamination of Cetinje, which during the rule of the DPS was contaminated by divisions and hatred."[10] His statement caused outrage in Cetinje and part of the Montenegrin public.[11][12][13]
Milović said that the justice reform program "Justice now" will be the backbone of PES's electoral campaign for the 2023 parliamentary election.[14] During the election campaign, Milović called Montenegro's accession to NATO the "only success of Montenegro in the field of foreign policy".[15] He received fourth position on PES's electoral list[16] and was elected to the Parliament of Montenegro following PES's election victory.[17] During the government formation talks in August 2023, Milović criticized the leaders of the pro-Serbian For the Future of Montenegro coalition.[18]
