Шаблон:Short description Шаблон:AfDM Шаблон:Infobox person Anna Eliza Williams (née Davies; 2 June 1873 – 27 December 1987)[1][2] was a British supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the world for the final 11 months of her life.[3]

Although her record has since been surpassed, she remains the oldest person ever to die in Wales.

Biography

Williams was born in Burford in Shropshire in 1873 as Anna Davies.[4] She married William Henry Williams, who died in 1954. On 5 June 1975, at the age of 102, she voted in favour of retaining Britain's membership in the referendum on Great Britain's EC membership. At the end of her life she lived at the Tuxedo Home for the Aged in Swansea in Wales.

With the death of Mary McKinney on 2 February 1987, she became the oldest person in the world. She died on the evening of 27 December, 1987, at the Tuxedo Home at the age of 114. She was succeeded as the oldest human by Florence Knapp and as the oldest European by Jeanne Calment.

Several of Williams' relatives also lived to old ages: her mother lived to be 94, and Williams' seven siblings lived to at least 80 years old. The eldest even lived to be 101. Connie Harvey, Williams' daughter, reached the age of 107.
