Tehuti Miles[1] (born January 1, 1990) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on its SmackDown brand under the ring name Ashante "Thee" Adonis.
Early life
Miles was born in Hammonton, New Jersey. Miles enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 2008 until 2013, after graduating from Hammonton High School in 2008. During his enlistment, Miles served a combat tour in Afghanistan through the middle of years 2010 and 2011. After servicing, Miles attended the University of Maryland, where he played Division 1 football as the team's running back.[2][1][3][4][5]
Professional wrestling career
Miles visited local promotion MCW Pro Wrestling where he learned how to wrestle and trained at the company's wrestling center.[6][7][8] On January 19, 2019 Miles won the MCW Rage Television Championship (as Elijah King).[9]
Ring of Honor (2018–2019)
Miles made his debut in 2018 as Elijah King at the November 3rd ROH television tapings in a dark match Elijah teamed with Dante Caballero and Joe Keys in a six-man tag match against Cheeseburger, Eli Isom & Ryan Nova but we're not successful.[10] Prior to that two weeks after, Miles returned to ROH Future of Honor Tapings on November 23, 2018, and had a ROH singles match against Ken Dixon but was not successful as he lost his first singles match.[11][12]
A year prior in 2019, Miles made his ROH pay-per-view debut on January 26, 2019, during the third night of the 2019 Road To G1 Supercard tour. On that night, Miles debuted Elijah King in a dark match against Andy Dalton but was not successful.[13]
WWE
In the December 13, 2018, published on WWE.com's update, it was reported as WWE's latest list of prospects that among them, Miles was listed in a group of 37 individuals ranging from Olympians, UFC fighters and independent wrestlers who were invited to train at the WWE Performance Center. With the paying off of his previous work while training and working in MCW Pro and Ring of Honor, Miles enhanced his training under WWE specifications.[14][15]
On the April 1, 2019, episode of Monday Night RAW While under the ring name Elijah King (rumored), Miles made his debut. Where, he appeared in a backstage segment with another local wrestler by the name of Brandon Scott, where the two had a segment where they were confronted by Braun Strowman and later during that night, both King and Scott teamed up in a 2-on-1 handicap match against Strowman but we're not successful. (During this match Miles and his tag team partners names we're Colin Jost & Micheal Che.)[16][17]
Miles debuted on the May 15, 2020, episode of 205 Live in a singles match against Tyler Breeze but was not successful.[18] On the May 29, 2020, episode of 205 Live He won his first singles match during against Danny Burch.[19] Under his new ring name Ashante "Thee" Adonis, on the October 9, 2020, episode of 205 Live he returned five months after defeating The Brian Kendrick in a rematch prior to the first time he faced him which was on August 28, 2020.[20][21]
Also during August 2020 Miles officially became a recruit of WWE.[22][23]
Tehuti Miles returned to television on the August 21, 2020, episode of Smackdown Live facing Drake Maverick[24] in a one-on-one match. A week prior on the August 28, 2020, episode of Smackdown Live, Miles wrestled in a singles match against The Brian Kendrick but was not successful.[20] A month prior after losing a match against Ariya Daivari[25] on the September 4 episode of Smackdown Live, Miles returned to television under a new name. On the September 11, 2020, episode of WWE Smackdown Live debuting as Ashante "Thee" Adonis on television, he had a rematch against The Brian Kendrick but was not successful.[26]
During a September 19 NXT Live event, Miles debuted under his real name to face recent recruit Cameron Grimes in his first singles match but was not successful. On September 20 a night prior, Miles returned for a NXT Live event, in his second singles match against Damian Priest but was not successful. On November 15, 2019, Miles finished the year with a house show match lost against Daniel Vidot but was not successful. On the April 15 episode of NXT Miles wrestled his final match on the brand in 2020, making his television debut in a match against Dexter Lumis but was not successful.[27] Miles returned to NXT Four months prior, in August before two months later returning under the name Ashante "Thee" Adonis. On the October 7, 2020, episode of NXT Adonis won a rematch defeating The Brian Kendrick. On the October 14, 2020, episode of NXT the following week Adonis has a singles match against Jake Atlas but was not successful.[28][29]
On the May 18, 2021, episode NXT Adonis debuted with the new tag team stable Hit Row alongside Top Dolla, Isaiah Swerve Scott and the stables female valet in their corner by the name of B-Fab[30] in a tag team match defeating Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese.[31] The stable wrestled only four more matches,[32][33][34][35][36] with their final match held on the August 24 episode of NXT as a majority when it comes to tag team action before NXT 2.0, losing a six-man tag match to Legado Del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza & Santos Escobar).[37] Adonis along with Hit Row were drafted to SmackDown during the 2021 WWE Draft but only wrestled one match[38] before being released on November 18, 2021.[39][40][41]
On the August 12, 2022, episode of SmackDown, Hit Row made their unannounced return as faces, where Top Dolla and Ashante "Thee" Adonis (accompanied by B-Fab) defeated two local competitors.[42] Shortly afterwards, Hit Row began a feud with Maximum Male Models (ma.çé and mån.sôör) which they defeated the latter on the September 2 edition of SmackDown.
On the December 16 episode of SmackDown, Hit Row beat The Viking Raiders and Legado Del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro) in a triple threat tag team match for an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship opportunity against The Usos.[43] On the December 23 episode of SmackDown, The Usos beat Hit Row to retain the championship.[44] Adonis made his singles main roster in-ring debut on the May 26 episode of SmackDown in a losing effort to Cameron Grimes.[45]
Music
On July 21, 2023, three members of Hit Row by the names of B-Fab, Top Dolla and Ashante "Thee" Adonis dropped a freestyle single by the name of Barbie Barz.[46][47]
Other media
- Tehuti Miles also made an appearance in the music video for Dominique Danielle's 2022 song "Come Through".[48][49]
- Ashante "Thee" Adonis alongside other Hit Row members Top Dolla, & B-Fab (as a Manager; Non-Playable) made his video game debut in WWE 2K23 as a DLC character in the Steiner Row Pack DLC bundle.[50]
