Aspergillus appendiculatus (also called A. testaceocolorans) is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus. It is from the Aspergillus section.[1] The species was first described in 1975.[2] It has been reported to produce asperflavin, auroglaucin, bisanthrons, dihydroauroglaucin, echinulins, emodin, erythroglaucin, flavoglaucin, isoechinulins, neoechinulins, physcion, questin, questinol, tetracyclic, and tetrahydroauroglaucin.[1]
Growth and morphology
A. appendiculatus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
