Aspergillus tonophilus is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus. It is from the Aspergillus section.[1] The species was first described in 1962.[2] It has been reported to produce auroglaucin, bisanthrons, dihydroauroglaucin, echinulins, flavoglaucin, an apolar indoloterpene, isoechinulins, neoechinulins, and tetrahydroauroglaucin.[1]
Growth and morphology
A. tonophilus has been cultivated on both yeast extract sucrose agar (YES) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
