Rano Nigeria Limited, a full-stream oil and gas company that operates in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. He is also the owner of Rano Air Limited, a licensed airline that offers domestic and international travel services. He is one of the richest men in Nigeria.

Early life

Rano was born in Lausu town in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria. He belongs to the Hausa-Fulani ethnic group. He attended Government Secondary School in Rano and Bayero University, where he obtained a bachelor's and a master's degree in Business Administration. He started his business career by selling ice blocks, groundnut oil, and other local items.

Business

Rano Oil

A.A Rano Oil is a prominent company in the Nigeria oil and gas sector, with a 600 million liters tank farm in Lagos Nigeria, over 200 retail outlets, and more than 600 trucks. It also has an LPG terminal and a vessel named Sea Horse. The company offers jetty services to other depot owners near its depot at Ijegun-Egba, as well as throughput services to other oil marketers who appreciate its modern facilities and safety systems. A.A Rano Nigeria Limited's main business is the wholesale and retail of PMS, DPK, AGO, LPG, and lubricants to its customers at its various filling stations across the country. It also supplies AGO and LPFO to manufacturers and other industrial users. A.A RANO has started installing LPG skid plants and auto gas dispensers in all its strategic retail outlets in Nigeria. It has also acquired over 100 automated LPG trucks to speed up the delivery of high-quality LPG to its industrial and household customers.

Rano Air

Rano Air is a fast-growing Nigerian airline, established in 2019, with five new Banbadier aircraft. It provides low-cost and comfortable flights to various destinations within Nigeria. The airline aims to deliver excellent aviation services, customer satisfaction, online convenience, and operational efficiency, with regard to on-time departure/arrival and safety. The airline has obtained approval to operate domestic flights to and from Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Kaduna, Sokoto, Gombe, Yola, Maiduguri, and Asaba.

Philanthropy

Rano is known for his philanthropic activities, especially in his home state of Kano. He has donated to various causes, such as education, health, sports, and social welfare. He founded the A. A. Rano Foundation, a non-governmental and non-profit organisation that focuses on community development projects, including health, education, provision of portable water, youth and women empowerment. He also supports students with tuition fees, and pays the hospital bills of indigent patients.

Personal life

He is married to Hajia Asma'u Auwalu Abdullahi Rano and has children.

Awards

He has been honoured with the national award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by the Nigerian government. He has also been named as The Sun Industrialist of the Year 2021.
