BAF Shaheen College (Шаблон:Lang-bn) is the general name of several civilian secondary and higher secondary educational institutions run by the Bangladesh Air Force.[1][2][3] These educational institutions are located in different air bases of BAF.[1][4][5]

Colleges

There are seven BAF Shaheen Colleges across the country and a BAF SEMC.[6]

BAF Shaheen College Dhaka

Шаблон:Main BAF Shaheen College Dhaka (Шаблон:Lang-bn) also known as BAFSD or Dhaka Shaheen is a co-educational Bangladeshi college[7] (grades KG-XII) established and controlled by the Bangladesh Air Force and primarily for the children of Air Force personnel.[8][9] But students from the civilian section can also study at the college.[10][11][1] The institution was established by Pakistan Air Force[12] near Tejgaon Airport, East Pakistan now Jahangir Gate, Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh on 1 March 1960 for the children of the Air Force personnel as Shaheen School, an English-medium school.[13] Later in 1967 Bengali medium was introduced along with English medium. After the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 Bangladesh Air Force has been running this educational institution. Meanwhile, Shaheen School was renamed as "Shaheen High School" and within a few years was recognized by the Dhaka Education Board. In the academic year 1977-78 Shaheen High School was renamed "BAF Shaheen College Dhaka" for the purpose of upgrading it to a higher secondary college.[14] Degree (pass course) was introduced in the academic year 1990-91 and since then BAF Shaheen College Dhaka continues to function as a degree college. However, the degree was abolished from the academic year 2006–07. At present, the college conducts educational programs from infant to class 12 as per the rules of the Directorate of Primary Education, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, and Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka. Co-curricular activities are running here. In the academic year 2006, English version was introduced along with Bengali medium according to the educational policy of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board.[15]

BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola

BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola[16] was established in 1972 as 'BAF High School'. The school was renamed as 'BAF Shaheen School' in 1980. Higher Secondary School Certificate course was introduced in the school from 1982 and then it was named as 'BAF Shaheen School and College'. In 1986 it was again renamed as 'BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola'. Students are taught from KG to XII classes in a coeducation environment. BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola is located in Kurmitola, Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka. It is located within Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu. The college is located at one end of the airport runway.[17]

BAF Shaheen College Chattogram

Шаблон:Main BAF Shaheen College Chattogram[18] was established in 1978 by Bangladesh Air Force as per the rules and regulations of Ministry of Education of the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh and Secondary Education Board Chittagong. This school was upgraded to Higher Secondary from the session 1985–86. From the year 2006 English curriculum under NCTB has been introduced as one section each of the classes from II to V along with the existing Bangla curriculum.[19]

BAF Shaheen College Shamshernagar

BAF Shaheen College Shamshernagar was established in 2011 with 1000 students in 6 classes from KG to class VI. The school opened a new class every year up to XII in 2013.Шаблон:Citation needed The school has preliminary permission from the education board in Sylhet to run the education activities of classes VI to XII. It is now a college. About 2118 students study there in 48 sections.[20]

BAF Shaheen College Jashore

On 26 January 1976, the foundation was laid in Jessore for what was then called Satadal School. Three years later it was renamed BAF Shaheen School. It was upgraded to a college and renamed BAF Shaheen College Jashore (up to class XII) in 1984.[21]

BAF Shaheen College Paharkanchanpur

BAF Shaheen School, PKP began in 1997 with 51 students in three classes from KG to class II. The school opened a new class every year up to class VIII in 2003. The school has preliminary permission from the education board in Dhaka to run the education activities of classes VI to VIII. Now it teaches until higher secondary. In 2014, the first batch attend to HSC examination under Dhaka education board.[22]

BAF Shaheen English Medium College

Шаблон:Main BAF Shaheen English Medium College (Шаблон:Lang-bn), or commonly known as BAF SEMC - is a college in Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh.[23][24] Its education is based on Cambridge International Examinations of UK under the direct supervision of the Bangladesh Air Force. From the year 1998, BAF SEMS' students have started sitting for the O’Level exam under University of London. It is located next to the BAF Shaheen College Dhaka.[25][26] As the school began offering higher education (A level) in 2019, the name of the institution changed from BAF Shaheen English Medium School (BAF SEMS) to BAF Shaheen English Medium College (BAF SEMC). As of October 2020, there are around 1600 students enrolled in grades I through XII as a whole. From June 2022 sessions on, BAF SEMC began serving as an exam venue for the British Council Bangladesh for Cambridge school examinations.[27]

BAF Shaheen College Bogura

Carrying the motto ‘Education-Restraint-Discipline’ BAF Shaheen College Bogura (BAF SB), the youngest member of Shaheen Education family, commenced its journey on the 01st January of 2020. Nestled in a calm and quite surroundings, BAFSB is next to a unit of Bangladesh Air Force at the outskirts of Bogura city around 1.5 km North-West from Baropur crossroads of the Bogura-Rangpur highway (2nd Bypass), Bogura Sadar, Bogura.

The college has an aesthetic infrastructure used for academic purposes including all modern facilities comprising a land covering an area of 4 acres. Established in 2020, BAF SB started its journey introducing Bangla Medium curriculum as per NCTB from KG to IX with 810 students and 17 teachers. In the same year the college opened college section. Gradually BAF SB expanded its strength and now its existing number of students and faculty members are 1616 and 30 respectively.

This traditional educational institute is working rigorously with the commitment of creating a skilled, worthy and intellectual nation. It also conducts curricular and extra-curricular activities for the betterment of the students with a view to transforming them as good citizens. Besides, the college is playing a leading role in upgrading the psycho-physical, moral and social aspects of the pupils by means of participating in games and sports, various competitions like quiz, debate, spelling bee, math and science olympiads. The students also have access to well-furnished computer labs and modern library.

School Section:

The session of KG to X is from 01 January-31 December of each year. The procedure of admission in school section (KG to X) is as follows:

1. Dated for distribution of admission form in School Section: Preferably form 1st week to 3rd week of November each year. 2. Dated for admission test: First week of December. 3. Dated for publication of result: Second week of December. 4. Process of admission test: Students desirous of getting admission in the school level have to appear in admission test. This includes a written test covering English, Maths, Bengali, General Science and General Knowledge (GK). 5. nly those who qualify are given admission according to merit and availability of seats. 6. Children of defense and non-defenses (civilians) personnel are allowed to get admission. 7. Scope for waiting list: If seats are vacant, students from waiting list may get admission according to merit list. 8. Seats fallen vacant in any class during the academic session for any reason are generally filled up from the students kept waiting for admission according to merit. College Section:

The session of class XI & XII usually starts on 1st July and ends on the 30th June each year. Since the publication of SSC result each year, advertisements are circulated for admission in College section. The producer of admission in College section (XI to XII) is as follows:

1. Admission forms are distributed as per the instructions of the Ministry of Education/ Board. 2. Students can apply based on the GPA demanded by our college and get chance on the basis of both GPA and marks (in case of same GPA) obtained by the students. 3. Students can apply for admission through online as per the date announced by the board and complete the admission process within the scheduled time fixed by the board. After completing all admission procedure class starts on the date announced by the board..[28]
