The BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé is a concept car presented at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in 2013 by BMW in collaboration with Pininfarina. It also the first collaboration vehicle between Pininfarina and BMW.

Overview

Built to anticipate the new 8 series,[1] the Gran Lusso Coupé is equipped with a 2-door coupé-type body of generous external dimensions with a very long wheelbase in relation to the volumes of the vehicle, which is fitted with a V12 twin-turbo engine with a V layout and a mechanical built by the Bavarian company.[2]

Design

Aesthetically, the car presents the typical stylistic features of the German brand, such as the classic double kidney grille present on all standard BMWs and the iconic Hofmeister elbow, but it is completely distorted and reworked according to the style of the Turin coachbuilder. The front is characterized by thin LED headlights which together with the double kidney grille, which appears slightly inclined forward "shark-nosed", like on most of the propeller company's cars of the 70s and 80s, form the grille. There are 21-inch wheels. The interior seats 4 and makes extensive use of leather and kauri wood from New Zealand. The side line highlights the classic grand tourer layout, with a long bonnet and a very rear passenger compartment. At the rear there is a system with four exhaust pipes, and lights made up of LED headlights that connect to create a single whole.[3]

For its style and line, it won the 2013 Good Design Award.[4]
