Bastam (Шаблон:Lang-fa, also Romanized as Basţām)[1] is a village in, and the capital of, Qarah Zia od Din Rural District[2] of the Central District of Chaypareh County, West Azerbaijan province, Iran.

At the 2006 National Census, its population (as a part of the former Chaypareh District of Khoy County) was 681 in 155 households.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 622 people in 162 households,[4] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Chaypareh County.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 447 people in 131 households.[6]

Headed by Wolfram Kleiss, the German Archaeological Institute excavated a Urartean site dating to the 7th cent. BC at Bastam in 1972-1975[7] and 1977–1978.[8]
