Release and reception

The film was ready for release by November 1997, but was delayed as a result of overcrowding at the box office.[5] D. S. Ramanujam of The Hindu wrote, "Cogency and cohesion now and then are sidelined in the director's narration [...] Cinematography of Rajarathnam is a plus point of the movie where the same cannot be said of Deva's music".[6] Two years after release, the producers were given a Шаблон:INRConvert subsidy by the Tamil Nadu government along with several other films.[7]
