The Bihar State Haj Committee is a statutory body for Haj pilgrimage under the Ministry of Minority Welfare in Government of Bihar. It is located at the Ali Imam Path on the Harding Road, Patna in the Indian state of Bihar. It is built and managed under the Hajj Committee of India, and recognised under the Haj Committee Act, 2002. The committee runs a Haj House at Patna, the State capital named Patna Haj Bhawan. It is chaired by the Alhaj Abdul Haque as the chairman.[1][2][3] The committee looks over the Haj pilgrimage in the state of Bihar.[4] The Patna Haj Bhawan was inaugurated by Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar on 17 October 2007.[5]

Events

  • The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar attends the Farewell ceremony of the Haj travelers every year since the inauguration of the Haj House in Patna.[6]
  • The Daawat-e-Iftar is organised every year in the holy month of Ramadan, which is largely attended by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers.[7][8][9]

Coaching

The Bihar State Haj Committee provides free coaching and education to poor Muslim students for the competitive exams like Bihar Public Service Commission exams since 2014.[10][11]

  • In the 2017 Bihar Public service commission result, 50 students of Haj Bhawan Patna coaching Centre passed out.[12]
