It is known from the United States, including Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio and Virginia.

The wingspan is about 21 mm.

The larvae feed on the roots of bonesets and thoroughworts (Eupatorium spp.).[2]
