Geography

Chalisgaon is located at Шаблон:Coord.[1] It has an average elevation of 344 metres (1128 feet). Chalisgaon is located on the southwest of Jalgaon district. Chalisgaon lies on the confluence of Titur and Dongri rivers. The Girna river flows from the northern part of Chalisgaon Tehsil. Girna river is the major source of drinking water in Chalisgaon city. Gautala Autramghat Sanctuary is located on the southern part of Chalisgaon Tehsil and is a protected area of Maharashtra state, India. It lies in the Satmala and Ajantha hill ranges of the Western Ghats, and administratively is in Aurangabad District and Jalgaon District. The wildlife sanctuary was established in 1986 in an existing reserved forest area. Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves are the nearest tourism points of Chalisgaon.
