Chan Fai-young[1] (Шаблон:Zh; born 25 September 1970) is a Hong Kong Cantopop composer. Chan was born in Macau in 1970.[2] He attended Berklee College of Music,[2] an American college in Boston, Massachusetts.

Chan composed his first work in 1994, "Romantic White Paper" (Шаблон:Lang), sung by Eric Suen Yiu-wai (Шаблон:Lang).[2] He composed other songs, including ones alongside lyricist Lin Xi, sung by many singers. He and Lin Xi wrote "Ngaam Yung" (Шаблон:Lang) for Faye Wong,[2][3] released in 1997 as part of Wong's EP, Toy. Chan composed "Garbage" (Шаблон:Lang) for Candy Lo,[2] released in 1997 as part of Lo's debut EP, No Need... Perfection Is Awful (Шаблон:Lang).

Chan and Lin Xi wrote "K goh chi wong" (Шаблон:Lang) for Eason Chan, released in September 2000,[4][5] and "Prayer of a Young Woman" (Шаблон:Lang) for Miriam Yeung,[2] for which both won as two of top ten Chinese gold songs (Шаблон:Lang) at the 2000 RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards.[6] Chan Fai-young composed other songs for Eason Chan, such as "Night Does Not Return" (Шаблон:Lang) and "Coming and Going" (Шаблон:Lang), and for Miriam Yeung, such as "Lifting Up My Head" (Шаблон:Lang), "Knowledge of Wine Drinking" (Шаблон:Lang), and "Firebird" (Шаблон:Lang).[2]

Chan and Lin Xi also wrote "Beauty for Life" (Шаблон:Lang)—written for the 2001 film, Love on a Diet[7]—and "Shall We Talk" in 2001 for, respectively, Sammi Cheng and Eason Chan. Chan and lyricist Wyman Wong wrote "Painful Love" (Шаблон:Lang) for Joey Yung. These songs became three of the top ten Chinese gold songs at the 2001 RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards.[8] In 2002, "Beauty for Life" won the "Best Original Film Song"[7] and earned Chan Fai-young the "Best Melody Award" at the CASH Golden Sail Music Awards.[9][10] Chan composed other songs for Sammi Cheng, such as "Exchanging Tenderness" (Шаблон:Lang), "Come Back to Me" (Шаблон:Lang), "The Last Cry" (Шаблон:Lang), and "How to Shed Tears" (Шаблон:Lang).[2] Chan composed other songs for Joey Yung, such as "Fear" (Шаблон:Lang), "Tsaang Hei" (Шаблон:Lang), and "Disfigured" (Шаблон:Lang).[2]

Chan composed "Vortex" (Шаблон:Lang) for Cass Phang and Anthony Wong Yiu-ming, "Love Someone" (Шаблон:Lang) for Hacken Lee and Kelly Chen, "Day and Night" Шаблон:Lang for Jacky Cheung and Sandy Lam, and "Loving Each Other Is Hard" (Шаблон:Lang) for Jacky Cheung and Anita Mui.[2] He and Lin Xi wrote "Single Man" (Шаблон:Lang) for Leslie Cheung.[11]

Chan and Lin Xi composed twelve songs for the 2007 album, 12 Faces of Women (Шаблон:Lang), sung by various singers, including Sammi Cheng.[12][13]
