Christos Floros (born 13 November 1993) is a Luxembourgish politician, civil rights campaigner and architect.[1][2][3] He is a member of the Democratic Party (DP).[4]

Biography

Early life

Christos Floros, was born in Athens, Greece in 1993, and moved to Luxembourg with his parents in 1994.[5][6] His father made the decision to bring the family to Luxembourg, after he had already worked for the European Commission in the 1980s.[7] Christos attended the European School of Luxembourg I,[6] and served as President of the Pupils' Committee.

Education

He studied architecture in Oxford at Oxford Brookes University[8] and completed his Masters in Architecture, European Urbanization, and Globalization[9] in Luxembourg, at the University of Luxembourg.

Professional career

Between 2022 and 2023 he worked for RTL in Luxembourg covering news and politics[10][11] and hosted Conversations with Christos, a series of talks with Luxembourgish politicians, including Vice-President of the European Parliament Marc Angel,[12] former MEP Colette Flesch[13] and Mayor of Luxembourg City, Lydie Polfer.[14] His work often focused on immigration and integration issues in Luxembourg.[13]

Political career

Christos Floros is a progressive figure within the Democratic Party, advocating for a pro-European stance.[15] In Luxembourg he is known for using social and traditional media to promote political discourse.[7][16][17][18][19]

He joined the Democratic Party in 2017, and represented Luxembourg in the Conference on the Future of Europe with Renew Europe in 2022.

In 2023 he founded Change for Luxembourg,[20] a non-partisan movement to include more residents in Luxembourg in the country's politics, after he noticed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, "half of the volunteers were Luxembourgers, the other half foreigners" in the test centre where he volunteered.[7] He has stated that this experience showed him, that the entire country cares and mobilises in the national interest of Luxembourg, and that is part of the reason why he advocates for the political participation of all people in Luxembourg.[1]
