The Crédit national (Шаблон:Lit) was a former French banking institution created under the impetus of Charles François Laurent, an expert in international financing, by a special law on Шаблон:Date. A hybrid between public and private-sector banking templates, it was intended to facilitate the financing of France’s reconstruction following the devastation of World War I. Crédit National eventually merged in 1996 with Banque Française du Commerce Extérieur to form Natexis, later absorbed into Groupe BPCE.
