Overview

Founded in 2020 by Gene Kakaulin and Charles Jacoby, the idea for Curex was inspired by the founders’ experiences with allergy shots and allergies.[2][6] Their experiences lead them to establish Curex, a telemedicine platform dedicated to allergy care.[2]

Curex’s operations encompass a nationwide network of allergy physicians and nurse practitioners.[7][8] Curex also incorporates a mail-order pharmacy service that delivers allergy immunotherapy and other prescribed medications to patients’ homes.[2]

The company’s primary focus is on treating common environmental allergies, including tree, weed, and grass pollen allergies; dog, cat, and other pet allergies; and indoor allergies such as those caused by mold and dust mites.[4][9] Curex also treats patients with asthma and atopic dermatitis (eczema), two conditions related to allergies.[4]

Curex provides allergy diagnosis services and facilitates IgE allergy testing with ImmunoCAP, an FDA-cleared technology, which requires a blood draw at home by a phlebotomist or in a lab.  Additionally, Curex offers IgE blood testing using self-administered, CLIA-certified test kits.[4][10][11]

Curex has established agreements with major insurance providers such as Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, United, and Humana.[4]

Chet Tharpe serves as the company’s medical director.[12]
