It was settled by Kesaram's 4 Sons Named (Netaram, Sarsaram, Kanaram & Phoolaram Kargwal) in 1783. It is known as the village of 'Adhyapaks' in Punjab. Because a total of 450 people got government jobs till year of 2022, 250 of them are teachers. As of 2023, the village has 1171 households with an estimated population of 6,251.[1]

Origin of its name

Dangar Khera had natural high water level area where water was stayed in village's pond. So in old times animals naturally bound to come here to drink water throughout the year (especially in summer season). Thus, the name was given to village after herds of animals were seen around the pond. 'Dangar' being a punjabi name for animal. The pond is currently lying on 7-8 acres of land but in old times it is used to be four times more than present.[2] (Earlier it's Name was Bahadurgarh).[3]

Features

Basanti Mata Mandir

Basanti Mata Mandir is a Hindu Temple in Dangar Khera. To protect against Spainsh Flu pandemic On 27 November 1918, Mata Basanti Mandir was established by Ch. Bahadur Singh Kargwal (Numberdar).[4] Earlier, there was a farm where this temple is built. People believe in Basanti mata and worship them. In every month on the day of Amavasya, a fair is held and Bhandara is organized by Mandir committee. (The First Bhandara was organised by Ch. Shyodaan Ram Taak). It is attended by a large number of devotees who come from nearby area and wide.[5]

Gurudwara Sahib

There is Gurudwara Sahib in Dangar Khera. People go to gurudwara sahib early morning everyday. Guruwara has a langar hall, where people can eat free lacto-vegetarian food served by volunteers at the gurudwara.[6]

Population

According to the 2011 census of India, Dangar Khera has an estimated population of 6251, of which 3333 were males and 2918 were females.[7]

Literacy Rate

In 2011, literacy rate of Dangar Khera was 71.62%.[7]

Language

Bagri is the major language spoken by the people followed by Punjabi.

Educational Infrastructure

Over the years, Dangar Khera has seen a substantial improvement in its educational infrastructure. The village now boasts two coaching centres. Dedicated to preparing students for competitive exams and five paid reading rooms that also serve as libraries. These reading rooms remain open 24/7, allowing students to study at their convenience.[8]
