Dr. Daniel McClellan is a public scholar of the Bible and religion and is an active member of the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons).

In March 2021, he has been confronting misinformation being shared on social media about the academic study of the Bible and religion. In January of 2023, he has been dedicated full-time to combatting misinformation and increasing the public's access to scholarship about the Bible and religion, which now includes offering online classes.

McClellan was the winner of the Society of Biblical Literature's 2023 Richards Award for Public Scholarship.[1]

Education

He received a PhD from the University of Exeter, where he wrote a dissertation under the supervision of Francesca Stavrakopoulou. His formal academic areas of expertise include cognitive linguistics and the cognitive science of religion.[2]
