Darby is an English locational surname and has since become a given name. Its prefix derives from the Old Norse Шаблон:Lang ("deer"), and the suffix Шаблон:Lang ("farm"/"settlement"). The oldest recorded surname dates to the period of 1160–1182 in Lincolnshire.
