David Dubrovsky (born March 3, 1929, Orekhov ) is a Soviet and Russian philosopher and psychologist, a specialist in the field of analytical philosophy of consciousness. Doctor of Philosophy (1969), professor (1973).

Biography

Born on March 3, 1929, in Orekhov (now Zaporizhzhia oblast).

Participated in the Second World War.[1][2] After the war, he returned to Melitopol, where his family lived, and worked at a factory.[3]

Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

In 1952–1957, he worked at a secondary school in Donetsk.[1]

In 1957–1970 he worked at the Department of Philosophy of the Donetsk Medical Institute.[1]

In 1962, at Kyiv University, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philosophical Sciences on “The analytical-synthetic nature of the reflective activity of the brain”.[1][4][5]

In 1969, at Rostov State University, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy “Philosophical analysis of a psychophysiological problem”.[1][6]

Since 1970, Dubrovsky lives in Moscow.[4]

In 1971–1987 he was professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov.[1]

In 1987–1988, he was a leading researcher at the Institute of Electronic Engineering of the USSR Academy of Sciences.[1]

Since 1988, Dubrovsky is a leading researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.[1]

Member of the editorial boards of journals:

  • " Philosophical Sciences " (1971–1991),
  • " Russian Psychoanalytic Bulletin " (since 1991),
  • " Polygnosis " (since 1999),
  • " Epistemology and philosophy of science".[7]
