It consists of 34 members elected from 17 cantons of Vendée and its headquarters are in La Roche-sur-Yon.

The departmental council of Vendée has been chaired since July 1, 2021 by Alain Lebœuf (LR), who succeeds Yves Auvinet (DVD), following the departmental elections of 2021.[1][2]
