It is the twenty-seventh installment of the Case Closed film series based on the manga series of the same name by Gosho Aoyama, preceded by Black Iron Submarine in 2023. The film is scheduled to be released in Japan on April 12, 2024.[1]

Plot

In Hakodate, Hokkaido, Kaito Kid made an announcement for his next heist, the target being a Japanese sword with connections to warrior Toshizo Hijikata. On the day of the heist, Heiji Hattori and Conan, who were visiting a kendo tournament taking place in Hakodate, confronts Kid, with the hopes of learning why he was after the sword.[2]

Promotion

On 30 September 2023, the official Detective Conan film series X (formerly Twitter) account posted an initial trailer of the movie.[4]

On 29 November 2023, in the first issue of 2024 for Weekly Shōnen Sunday, the title of the movie has been confirmed as The Million Dollar Pentagram, with a hand-drawn poster by Gosho Aoyama and a synopsis of the film attached, with the release date confirmed as 12 April 2024.[5][6][7]

On 26 December 2023, a new 60-second trailer and a visual poster featuring Conan, Heiji and Kaito Kid were released.[8]

On 1 February 2024, the main visual of the film was released. It was also announced that there will be no pre-screening of the film, but a fan meeting will be held ahead of the theatrical release of the film.[9] The theme song was revealed to be Шаблон:Nihongo by Aiko in a 90-second trailer released on 15 February, marking the singer's first collaboration with a Detective Conan movie.[10][11]
