An anime television series adaptation produced by Maho Film premiered in January 2024.

Plot

Elise was an unpopular, spoiled, and hot-headed empress. After the people rebel and she is executed, she reincarnates in the modern world with her memories intact. To atone for her crimes, she studies and becomes an expert doctor. When she is killed in a plane crash, she wakes up as Elise again at the beginning of her life. In an effort to not repeat her mistakes again, she gains popularity by setting up medical reforms and other improvements and aims to improve her relationship with her peers and the people.

Written by Yuin, Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp was serialized on Kakao's KakaoPage service from December 30, 2015, to April 27, 2016,[3] and has been published in four volumes.[4] A side story was released from May 4 to 30, 2016. A second side story was serialized from September 19 to November 27, 2017.[3]

Webtoon

webtoon adaptation illustrated by Mini was serialized in KakaoPage from September 18, 2017, to February 16, 2021,[5] and has been compiled into ten volumes by Pinetoon (Шаблон:Korean).[4][6] The series is published digitally in English by Tappytoon and Lezhin Comics.[7][8] In Japan, the webtoon has been released digitally on Kakao's Piccoma service,[9] and published in print by Kadokawa Shoten.[10]

Anime

An anime television series adaptation was announced on February 28, 2023.[11] It is produced by Maho Film and directed by Kumiko Habara, with scripts supervised by Deko Akao, character designed by Yūko Watanabe, and music composed by Ken Itō.[12][4] The series premiered on January 10, 2024, on AT-X and other networks.[1][2] The opening theme song is "Believer" by Yui Ishikawa, while the ending theme song is "Listen" by Maju Arai.[13] Crunchyroll licensed the series.[14] Plus Media Networks Asia licensed the series in Southeast Asia.[15]
