It was formed in 2016 occupying current 5 sections (wards) from previous 5 former VDCs.[1] It occupies an area of 19.80 km2 with a total population of 22,599.[2][3][4] One of the famous villages in Durgabhagwati Gaupalika is Matsari.Matsari is famous for Maithil Brahman and many people's are in government job. Matsari is also famous for Durga Bhagwati temple.
